Personification=a figure intended to represent an abstract quality.

Anthropomorphic=relating to or characterized by anthropomorphism.

Simile=a figure of speech involving the comparison of one thing with another thing of a different kind, used to make a description more emphatic or vivid (e.g. as brave as a lion ).

Metaphor=a figure of speech in which a word or phrase is applied to an object or action to which it is not literally applicable.

Assonance=resemblance of sound between syllables of nearby words, arising particularly from the rhyming of two or more stressed vowels, but not consonants.

Sibilance=is the recurrence of a hissing ‘s’ sound which can be effective in prose and poetry.

Allegory=a story, poem, or picture which can be interpreted to reveal a hidden meaning, typically a moral or political one.
